Barclaycard Arena Acts Dominate Glasto!

Glasto kicks off this weekend and the line-up is peppered with acts that have rocked the Barclaycard Arena over the last few years! Here's what you can expect from the likes of Muse, Foals, Example, and Coldplay!

So, right off the bat, let’s get stuck into some of the headliners…Muse and Coldplay! Two huge acts who’ve both taken over our arena over the last few years and completely smashed it in the process (not literally).

Muse

Three words which I’d use to describe Muse’s performance here at our arena…pure, classic rock! Matt Bellamy and the boys gave us a faultless set of hit after hit for almost 2 hours, and we loved every minute! You lot at Glasto can expect big powerful riffs, loads of tracks to sing-a-long too and a fair bit of moshing…and probably loads of mud too.

Muse are the first band to headline this year’s festival, if you’re going, make sure you get to the Pyramid Stage early!

More Barclaycard Arena acts playing on Friday…

Skepta, who appeared at BBC 1Xtra Live a few years back, makes his first appearance on the Pyramid Stage sandwiched between Rokia Traore and Two Door Cinema Club – and the BBK man is gonna bring a huge slice of Grime to Glasto! He’s definitely one of the most exciting artists at this year’s festival and without doubt, he’ll give one of the most energetic performances too! Just hoping he cracks out the Sports Direct uniform again.

Foals are the other act playing the main stage who also appeared at our arena recently. Foals took over Birmingham earlier this year and if they do something similar on the Pyramid Stage as they did back in Feb, then boy oh boy, you're in for a treat!

Yannis and the boys are on just before Muse and personally I don't think you could get a better "warm-up" act before a headliner - it's gonna be off the chain!

There's more previous and future Barclaycard Arena acts performing on Friday! James, who were with us last month, open the Other Stage, with Bring Me The Horizon, who arrive in Brum this November, taking over at around 7pm just before Bastille!

Although Lionel Richie won't be making a return to this year's festival, his tour buddy and support artist Corrine Bailey Rae will be! The "Put Your Record On" singer will be on the Avalon Stage from around 8:15pm!

Coldplay

Now, let's talk about Sunday night. Coldplay. Yes, Coldplay will be closing Glasto 2016!

It's been a while since Chris Martin performed at our venue, but we still remember the show like it was yesterday. It was unforgettable. That's something we can guarantee to anyone watching Coldplay on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, it's something you'll never forget!

"Lead singer Chris Martin, dressed in military jacket, was bursting with enthusiasm as he dashed around the stage whipping up audience support." Birmingham Mail couldn't get enough of Coldplay's energy and went on to give their 2008 show a straight up 5 outta 5!

What can you expect from the lads? Emotion, sing-a-longs, moments of sheer beauty, switching tempo's, dancing, perhaps a few tears and memories!

More Barclaycard Arena acts to look out for across the weekend...

Ellie Goulding, Years & Years, Jamie Lawson & Example will be out in force this weekend and there's no doubt they're going to own it at this years festival!

Also, don't forget to check out Madness! They're on the Pyramid Stage after Wolf Alice and before The Last Show Puppets on Saturday night. Or, if you're not going Glasto, you can catch them here this December!

Finally, let's talk Adele...

Obviously, we’ve gotta give a huge shout-out to Adele too, who although played at our sister venue, still completely smashed 4 sell out shows just a few months back here in Birmingham. Our Adele review will give you an idea of what to expect from Queen of the Pyramid Stage this weekend!

If you're going to Glasto, make sure you pack wellies...and perhaps spare wellies. We salute you. If you're watching on TV from home...well played.
