The Best of 2015

It’s been an awesome 12 months since we opened the doors as the Barclaycard Arena last December - from One Direction's final tour before their break to Lionel Ritchie's epic show…join us as we take a trip down memory lane!

We wanna know what your highlight has been from 2015 – follow us on Twitter and give us a tweet!

We tipped off 2015 with the BBL Cup Final – and what a start the year! We witnessed the Newcastle Riders (who’ll also be competing in this year’s final) take on the Glasgow Rocks in a tightly contested match – with the Riders coming out on top! You can catch all the highlights here…

The events kept coming thick and fast as Strictly Come Dancing, Queen and Adam Lambert and Slipknot all stopped by before our arena was transformed into a world of athletics for the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix – which was amazing! You can check out all the results here. (

We carried on our sporty theme as the Yonex All England Open Badminton Champions rolled into our arena, where we treated to some of the best badminton action we’ve seen in a long, long time. If you’re a badminton fan, the event heads back to Birmingham next year – you can snap up your Yonex Badminton tickets here.

The beauty of our arena is that we’re so versatile, one minute we’re hosting a huge sporting event, the next we’ve got the likes of Usher, Train, Morrissey, McBusted, Nicki Minaj, Ben Howard, Harlem Globetrotters, BAMMA and a certain Mr Olly Murs dominating the stage right here in Birmingham!

Rap, rock, sport – we had it all in 2015. We witness Anthony Joshua dominate with an impressive second round knockout at Resurrection – Matchroom Boxing, J. Cole then had the crowd jumping as he took over the Barclaycard Arena and the legendary Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, stopped by for a night we’ll never forget!

You name a worldwide superstar and we’ll tell you that they’ve probably played at our arena this year. Olly Murs, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Paul Weller and little unknown band….ONE DIRECTION have all performed here over the last 12 months.

Now whether you’re a Directioner or not, there’s no denying that the boys have got talent! Harry, Louis, Naill and Liam performed three sell out shows in October and it was actually one of the most amazing (and probably the loudest) shows we’ve ever had at our arena. You can read the full review here.

The later stages of the year we saw the likes of Kevin Bridges, Disney On Ice, Fall Out Boy, Birmingham International Tattoo, Faithless, Dynamo, The Prodigy and Michael McIntyre all perform outstanding shows to thousands of fans!

So now we’re in December and it’s the month we’ve all been waiting for…no, not because Santa is set to pop down your chimney, because of Cinderella – The World’s Biggest Panto!

Bradley Walsh, Paul O’Grady, Dick n Dom and a cast of over 100 feature in the biggest panto the world has ever seen – and what a show it was / is (depending on when you’re reading this). If you’ve not had chance to see the show for yourself, you’re going to have to take a quick read of our review!

2015 has been pretty awesome, but with the likes of Justin Bieber, Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Lionel Ritchie, the Davis Cup, Foals, Jason Derulo, Ellie Goulding, Mariah Carey, Muse, Busted and Peter Kay all heading to our arena in 2016, we know 2016 will be just as memorable.
